Designing from Home 27th November

On 27th November at 7.30pm in the Library, we have an evening based on the era of FHK Henrion (1914-1990).

He was an iconic designer whose practice was st 35 Pond Street where he also lived,.which is 200 metres from the Library.

The house later became home to architectural practice Team 4 with Richard Rogers and Norman Foster.

FHK as he was known, was responsible for a host of still famous logos such as British European Airways, KLM, NT (National Theatre) and many more.

Consisting of two short films by Dr Harriet Atkinson:

  • Art on the Streets (2023, co-directed with Jane Dibblin, 30 minutes long), in which Henrion plays a central role as he was a member of Artists International Association.

This film is currently showing daily in the Marie von Motesiczky Archive Gallery at Tate Britain until May 2026.

  • Designing from Home co-directed with Sue Breakell, 16 minutes long), which is about FHK and Daphne Hardy Henrion’s life together at Pond Street.  Dr Sue Breakell is Director of the University of Brighton Design Archives where Henrion’s archive is held.
